Osteoporosis is a medical condition where a person’s bones become weak and fragile as a consequence of hormonal changes or nutritional deficiencies, especially deficiencies in vitamin D and calcium. Osteoporosis is therefore a bone disease that happens when the bone loses too much bone or makes too little of it. The bones thus become brittle and the individual is at risk of bone fractures from falls or even minor accidents or bumps. Today, about 54 million people Americans suffer from the disease.
